It is an irrefutable fact that the best exercises for burning fat are cardiovascular exercises, as they elevate your heart rate and metabolism for extended periods of time, long enough for your body to dig into its fat stores to use it as fuel for energy. Ideally, it would be nice to perform our cardio in the form a nice jog or brisk walk along the nearby nature trail, or even a slow hike up the mountain slope amidst lush greenery.
Unfortunately, most of us are not afforded that scenic luxury, because we live in densely-populated concrete jungles, where a simple jog around the neighbourhood also entails breathing in smoky vehicle exhaust amidst bustling human traffic. Thus, it is no surprise at all that there is a proliferation of gyms in the cities, almost all of which come equipped with state-of-the-art cardio equipment . Unfortunately, these cardio machines are usually very heavily utilized by gym members, and are often not available unless you queue in line. If you’re the sort with lots of time to spare waiting in a queue, then maybe this is a non-issue for you. However, if you’re like me, who has a hectic daily schedule to keep, you’d probably want to squeeze in as much quality cardio training as you can within the limited time you can afford. If this is the case, then I would advise you to seriously consider buying your own cardio machine. True, it might be a tad expensive, but at least you are free to workout whenever you want to, without the need to jostle with anyone over its use. As they say, “ time is money”, and based on that, the savings in time you would get out of owning your own machine would justify its cost. Take it from me, I bought my own elliptical trainer last year after being fed about having to constantly queue for my turn on the stationary bike down at my gym. So far, there’s not been a day when I’ve regretted my purchase. In fact, I think my cardio machine is probably one of the best investments I’ve ever made.
